{Do Tell!}

Hello weekenders!! How are you?  I had a wonderful weekend with my 10th grade boys.  I do believe boys are the most francinating creatures. My most favorite thing that comes to mind is that they have no inhibitions.  Underwear on the floor...they don't care.  Shoes everywhere....doesn't phase them.  Toilet seat up and towels everywhere.....completely unnoticed.  It is refreshing to me.  I really enjoyed the weekend.  It blessed my heart to hear those boys digging in Gods word.
Okay y'all! I am ready to hear some feedback! Do tell! Do tell!!

What is your most favorite???
Dear John?
The Lucky One?
Safe Haven? (If you have had a chance to see it)
I have bought all the soundtracks....love and adore!!

{Peeling Pleather Saga}

Yes mam, by 9:00 Wednesday morning I had my couch loaded up and ready to take to the Goodwill. . . or so I thought.

 My 1st stop was the Jennylind Auction.  I had some things I needed to put in for Fridays Sale.
(They have some gorgeous furniture this week!)
 I pull up and see a trailer. . . my heart beating fast. Love. Antiques. (Can't help myself)
 See that buffet hidden back there . . . so pretty.
 I was highly fascinated by that "twig table" back there. . .as you can see I wasn't able to get up close and personal.  After my antique endeavors I was onto take care of my couch situation.

Now y'all this is a prime example of how folks get attached to their own stuff. . .

YOU think its a "real jewel" but then you realize. . . not so much. . .

Stop #1 The ReStore.  They wouldn't take it. (Really? Is it that bad?)
Stop #2 Mustard Seed. They wouldn't take it. (I understand, just caught them on an off day)
Stop #3 The Veterans Thrift, knowing they take everything. I TRIP THERE. FALL FLAT ON MY FACE. DENT MS. SIRI. AND ALMOST CRY. And no, they wouldn't take it either. (Good thing I don't have pride issues)
Stop #4 The Goodwill. NOPE. Not-A-Chance.
 Okay. . .here's where it gets even better. . . I had to PAY the DUMP to get rid of my couch.
Yes, you read that right.
 This is what it came to.
My couch.
In a dumpster.
(Who knew "Peeling Pleather" that sticks to your clothes and carpet was so undesirable?)
 The End.

In case you are wondering my next sofa will be 100% Cowhide. or Fabric. Thank you.

(I MUST finish getting ready for this group of 10th grade boys. . .they will arrive tonight.)

{I Might Need a Lift to the Mental Ward}

 Listen Y'all. . . I am about to have a complete come apart.
Let me just give y'all the short version. . . meaning I am going to leave out a-whole-lotta-crazy.
Cray-Cray, y'all. CRAY! CRAY!
My precious son.  He is anemic.  He cant swallow pills.  Have you ever tasted iron?
I am hosting 10th grade boys. . . at my house. . . in less than 65 hours and everything in my house
seems to be falling apart.
This recliner is like sitting in a busted-out-bottomed-lawn-chair.
I think I have solved the puzzle.  I need a screw. (Get your mind outta' there.)
 The ice maker works like a charm.  Water dispenser on the fritz!  Clayton informs me this morning he hasn't drank water in 3 days due to this thing being on the blink.  Water out of the sink is unacceptable in a 12 year old world.
 I have managed to fix this thing too. . . I cleaned out the freezer and vacuumed underneath and moved some tubes around. . . I possibly see a flood in my near future.
Oh yes, my couch is on my last nerve.  Its peeling and I cant take it another day.  I went couch shopping yesterday, and I will share more about that later, but I have this thing pushed as close to the front door as I can get it (with laundry still on it. . . is that not hilarious!?) so The Mr. will know I mean business.
Out with it!
Did I mention my computer has some sort of virus too!  Delta has become my new search engine! Crazy HIJACKERS! Makes me crazy!
Lets talk later, shall we?  I will let you know if I need a ride to the mental hospital.
(SIDEWAYS crazy!)

{Sweet Siri}

 My weekend was full of cooking, resting, and reading.  Let me put those in order. . .
1. Resting
2.  Reading
3.  Cooking
I must confess. . . Reading, not my thing. . . Cooking, really not my thing.  BUT I am really trying.
I WANT to be a Book Worm.  I WANT to be a Chef.
Carry on.
 This recipe is from her.  I love her blog!  She is full of inspiration!
I have a feeling I butchered her soup.
(I love spinach in soup.  Its not done here, btw.)
 After my "Experiemental Soup", that was good, but voted a "One-Time Only Dish". . . I fixed, "Old Faithful".  Roast.  Its really hard to screw-up roast.  Oh, I have done it, but not in years.  Its always voted "A Keeper".
 In other news, Friday afternoon my sweet little 3G went dead, and I went into a panic.  I am not attached at the hip to my phone.  If I leave it at home I do feel naked, but I dont often go back to get it.  The one time of the day I like to have my phone is school-pick-up-time.  So I whipped my car into
Burgess Communications and took care of business.
 The 4 was .99 cents.  I just knew thats what I would do. . . until the girl. . . started talking about Sweet Siri.  She says, "You know she can text for you and tell you where the closest pizza place is." What???!! The closest pizza joint?  Oh, I-am-so-SOLD.
(I am WELL aware I am way behind the times.  I kind-of pride myself in that, so when you people have the 6,7, or 8. . . I will get the 5.)
So for $100 bucks, Siri and I have been chatting up a storm.  She likes me.
Last but not least, I am adoring headbands.  They have been around since the beginning of time, I know, but I am loving them in my little Lily's hair.

{Tutti Frutti}

 Look how much fun she had!  Thursday Evening was Lily's PTO Program.
 "ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME".
 I LOVE our kids schools.  It has been an adjustment going from Elementary to Middle School with my oldest son, but they all are good schools.  Mrs. S. Wilson is our principal, and mom to him.  She also has an amazing daughter named Allie.
 She is a great leader.  The kids love her, and the vice principal, Mrs. Foster.
 The PTO always decorates so cute.
 Lily sang Rockin' Robin, Tutti-Frutti, and Rock and Roll is here to stay!
I love the sound of children singing!
It is absolutely precious.

{Man Birthday Date}

  Ladies, do I know this man or what??!!

I took the kiddos to school. Came back home.
 I asked, "So, what do you want to do today, you want to go 4-wheeling?"

He says, "Well, I know you would probably rather go to eat and a movie. . "
(Who, me? Nah. Not at all.)

I love the outdoors, but. . . I am a tad finicky. . .I don't like being too cold. . .or too hot.
I love to go 4-wheeling, but. . . when the trails are mile after mile my anxiety starts to kick in.
Like, are we ever going to arrive anywhere?  Is this trail to the ends of the earth?

But. . .I was just happy to be with him.  By the fire. Drinking Sweet Tea.

We took some chairs (my suggestion) so when I saw a pretty place.
 We could stop.
 And sit.
  And talk.
And enjoy.
This little stream was a nice spot.
We sit.
 We get sleepy.
We are funny.
I love the peaceful sound a stream makes.
To do: Enjoy God's Creation more.
I am thankful for my husband and for the quietness of the day.
Quiet is good.  My husband is good.
The weather was perfect (not too hot- not too cold)

“Too many people seem to believe that silence was a void that needed to be filled, even if nothing important was said.”

“If conversation was the lyrics, laughter was the music, making time spent together a melody that could be replayed over and over without getting stale.”

(Y'all know about Mr. Sparks new movie, right?)

{Hubby-Type Fun}

Aren't black berries gorgeous?  I think they are so pretty and remind me of all things good.
Tonight Clayton has took it upon himself to make chocolate covered strawberries a' top
of my already messy kitchen. . .
but what do you say to a man in the kitchen that desires to cook. . .
Absolutely, you can! Sure! Go ahead! Sounds great!
or all of the above.
Lily loves to have puppet shows/plays and tonight she has prepared a special show for her dad.
She has been gearing up since she got home school.  She has been preparing for weeks.
The Grandparents are even coming.
 We all have prepaid for our tickets, and we have to sign at the door to get in.
Memories.
The pine cones that were once gathered for bird feeders are now Pine cone People.
Precious.
No need to buy balloons for The Mr.'s Birthday. . . after a visit to Dr. White today we are set.
I took the baby because I cant decide if he is sick or well??? Sounds strange because it is.
Thankfully, he is more well than sick! No meds.  Just awaiting some blood test results.
 I will keep you posted.
Have you searched for a card lately?
They do not fall short on the sappy. . . I just cant do corny, sappy cards.  I just cant.
This one is blank inside. . . and. . . well. . . its perfect.
Tomorrow is his special day, and we both are free birds!
I am excited!
A full day of hubby-type fun!
Talk soon!

{The Blue Plate Special}

About a month ago my son had a school project that asked the question. . . What are your family traditions?  That question made me sweat a tad.  The Mr. says, "Honey, you try too hard."  I say IMPOSSIBLE! I only have one shot at this Mom Gig and I am going to keep trying to make it count!
What I believe makes traditions somewhat of a challenge with my family is that it is so small.  Both sets of my grandparents passed years ago, and my father was an only child.  Of course we all have wonderful Christmas, Easter, and Sunday Lunch, but. . . it's the little things that kids seem to remember.  I started doing a tad bit of research and I came across this blog.  She says . . .
But what do you do if your family doesn't have many traditions? Well, you create them of course! Somebody has to create all these little rituals, so why not let it be you? Traditions don’t have to be extravagant, intense or require a lot of planning.They can be as simple as reading to your child every night in the same comfy chair, having a movie and pizza night every Friday or discussing things you are grateful for around the dinner table each evening. Traditions are the glue that keeps a family together. We all have very busy lifestyles, and adding a small tradition here or there can make all the difference to your family.
Her article and ideas not only encouraged me, but inspired me too.  I can do this!  One tradition (which sounds silly, but the picture says a thousand words) I decided to run with was "The Blue Plate Special".  Birthdays, make a great grade, memorize a Bible verse, just anything worth some extra kudos, YOU my friend, get to eat off the Blue Plate.
Lily helped me set the table tonight, and Dad will receive the Blue Plate for his birthday!  Everyone thought it was fun.

Now, whats for dinner. . .

 Spinach Alfredo Lasagna Recipe by Rae Deal
I am not sure what I treasure more?
  The hand written recipe from her or the wonderful meal it created tonight for my family.
Both a treasure, for sure!
It is delicious.  Meal planning, traditions, and family dinners all were high on my New Years list.
I am proud of myself!
 Harmony is a wonderful feeling!
The baked Mozzarella. . .
Beautiful.
 After I added a green salad. . .
I cleaned my plate!
And so did everyone else!

Do you have any simple family traditions you would like to share?
